Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) was born in Lucca, Italy. As a young man, he was inspired to become an opera composer after seeing a performance of Verdi's Aida. In 1882, he wrote a one-act opera, Le Villi that caught the attention of Giulio Ricordi, who commissioned a second opera, Edgar, in 1889.

The Delta Giacomo Puccini Ltd. Ed. Rollerball Pen is hand turned from a solid bar of a special ruby-red resin and trimmed in solid sterling silver. The cap of the rollerball pen offers a central ring in solid sterling silver sleeve engraved with a design of various size circles portraying sound waves, and a design of music notes highlighted with red enamel. On the top of the cap is a medal in sterling silver featuring Puccini's bust. The clip is made of a special elastic metal alloy to facilitate the position into the pocket. The production of the Giacomo Puccini rollers are limited to 1858 pieces worldwide and are easily convertible into ballpens by a simple refill change.
